The Festival of Welsh Music in London is a two-day event celebrating Welsh music, created and organised by conductor and composer Edward-Rhys Harry along with the London Welsh Chorale.
Dr Edward-Rhys Harry is a conductor and composer for choirs and instrumentalists all over the globe. His compositions are widely published and his catalogue is noted by the Composers of Wales site, part of TY CERDD.
As an advocate for professional training and development, Dr Harry leads workshops in singing and conducting across the UK.
In 2024, Dr Harry was appointed as the Musical Development and Wellbeing Manager for the international charity, Military Wives Choirs, which connects women in the military community through a support network and through the power of singing.
The festival committe is made up of volunteers from the London Welsh Chorale, led by our festival planning lead, Lynne Tew.
The London Welsh Chorale has rehearsed and performed in central London and around the globe since February 1983. Members hail from a range of professions and backgrounds, and the repertoire spans the Renaissance to modern. The Chorale is committed to keeping Welsh music alive in London, and has supported many young professional singers and orchestral players in our professional concerts. New members are always welcome!
Neil Kinnock
We're delighted to welcome Neil Kinnock as our very first festival ambassador. The former leader of the labour party and current member of the House of Lords has been a long-time supporter of the London Welsh Chorale. We've hugely valued all his support and advice in the creation and organisation of the Festival.
