The London Welsh Young Singer Competition has existed in one form or another since 1957. Relaunched in 2024 as part of the festival’s aim to play a part in nurturing emerging solo artistes of the future, the competition is back again as part of the Festival of Welsh Music in London 2026.

How the competition works
The competition consists of two parts: Preliminaries and the Final.
Preliminaries
Successful applicants will be invited to perform three pieces of music in the preliminary competition stage. Judges will select up to five performers to take through to the Final. Preliminaries will take place during the day on Friday 13 November at The Welsh Church of Central London, Eastcastle Street.
Final
The successful finalists will be invited to each perform one or two pieces of music during the Night of the Choirs concert as part of the Festival of Welsh Music in London, where prize-winners will be selected. The final and Night of the Choirs concert will take place at 7pm on Friday 13 November at The Welsh Church of Central London, Eastcastle Street.
Prizes
Four prizes will be awarded during the Night of the Choirs concert: including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and an Audience Prize.
